Before and After

I picked up this fabric while I was out thrifting. I always comb through the linen section looking for interesting prints or colors that match my decor. I bought this item because it has the same marigold and fuschia color story I want for my living room.

I have no idea what the intended purpose for this is- the thrift store labeled it a throw (I'm sure after several confused conversations). I was happy to find something that was ample enough to transform into multiple throw pillows.

Sure enough, my thrifty throw equaled four 14 x 14 in pillows.

This project actually stretched into two days with redo. I was unsure about cutting the material into quarters right off because pillows always seem to turn out so much smaller from what I cut them. 

I began by cutting the material in half width-wise and used the first half to make a long sort of body pillow and cut the other half into two pieces to make smaller ones. After living with the long pillow for a while, we decided it was not very useful, so I unstuffed, seam ripped and cut to turn the one into two.

This blouse is such a classic vintage piece. Peter pan collars add such a sweet, feminine, and quirky touch to any outfit and the light Swiss dot material is perfect for summer. Speaking of summer and hot weather threads, can we talk about these pants? They have a  classic trouser cut and a stylish skinny fit all while being cropped above the knee. Blissfully perfect business casual wear for the dog days.

Hot Heat

Memorial Day ushers in the summer season where layers of clothing get shed and pasty skin sees the sun once more. This past week I saw so many sunburns, glistening brows and shorts. Bye bye primavera; hello heat.
